This books of the Bible word search hides 18 books from Genesis to Revelation, from the Old Testament stories kids already know (Jonah, Ruth, Daniel) to the four Gospels and the letters. Play it right here (drag across a name to circle it, which works on phones), or print it with a separate answer key. It makes a good warm-up on the week you start teaching kids to find their way around a Bible.
Make it a Bible drill
When a child finds a book in the grid, they open a real Bible to it and read the first verse. Keep a count on the board: who can find and open the most books in ten minutes? Older kids can sort the books they found into Old Testament and New Testament before you check the answer key.
Talk about it while they search
- The Bible is one book made of 66 smaller books. Which one have you read the most?
- Psalm 119:105 calls God's word "a lamp to my feet." In Jesus's day a lamp was a small clay dish of olive oil. Why would you need one on a dark path?
- Genesis means "beginnings" and Exodus means "going out." Can you guess why those books got those names?
Questions teachers ask
Which books of the Bible are in this word search?
Easy has Genesis, Exodus, Psalms, Jonah and the four Gospels. Medium adds Acts, Ruth, Job and Romans. Hard has all 18, through to Revelation, with diagonal and backwards words.
Why aren't 1 Samuel or 2 Kings in the puzzle?
A word search can only hide letters, so we left out the books with numbers in their names rather than hide a half-name. Use the moment to ask kids which books come in pairs (or threes, like 1, 2 and 3 John).
Is there an answer key?
Yes. Press Print and the answer key prints on its own page after the puzzle. Untick it if you only want the puzzle.
Do I need an account to print it?
No. It's free for church, classroom and home use, with no sign-up and no email.
